I love desserts and I especially love PIE! As fate would have it, my good friend came in town and after eating brunch, we were both craving something sweet. I was content with going to get an ice cream cone from a drive-thru and then he said these wonderful words, “Do you want to go get some pie?” My eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store and I simply replied, “Yes!” 20 minutes later, we ended up in the historic Bishop Arts District in Dallas at this quaint home on North Bishop street called Emporium Pies. We parked in a gravel lot right beside the building and walked in. Emporium was filled with the sweet smell of freshly baked pies. After reading over their menu about 5 times (it’s really quite small), I decided on a pie called the Snowball. It was like Heaven on a plate. The Snowball’s description is a flaky crust filled with creamy coconut custard with house whipped cream topped with crunchy toasted coconut. It was an unbelievably hot day and coconut sounded so refreshing. That coconut custard was silky smooth and had the right amount of sweetness. The size of the pie slice was more that satisfying and the toasted coconut was like the exclamation point on top. All of that creamy goodness for $5! I went back two days later to get 2 more slices of pie and literally ate a slice in the car while parked on the street. Some of their pies are seasonal so if you find one that you love, you better hurry before time runs out!

***I also recommend the Lord of the Pies. This is a deep-dish apple pie that you will not soon forget. Lord of the Pies is definitely not your grandma’s apple pie 🙂 ***
